The house
The property comprises 61 square meters and is set on a plot of 600 square meters, just beside the narrow gauge track of Moutzouris, the famous Little Train of Pelion, and on the side of the road linking Vyzitsa and Kala Nera, two very graphic villages.
Serenity is guaranteed. However, if you want to join the crowds, you can go to nearby villages such as Kala Nera and Vyzitsa, or travel a little bit further to Agios Georgios, Pinakates, Milies, Gatzea or Koropi and enjoy a more traditional vacation with fellow travelers.
History
In the old days, there were no roads; no snow-ploughs. During winter, when the snow started, the village of Vyzitsa became impossible to live in, as did many other villages in Pelion. The villagers had their winter homes at a lower altitude and during the winter they generally moved down and spent the winter collecting their olives. Argireika was one of the places the villagers moved to. It had five cafes, a school and a church and all the villagers lived there from October till March.
The location
Surrounded by olive trees, 300 metres above sea level, the village offers a splendid view across the Pagasitikos Gulf. Nestling in Mount Pelion, with the sea lying below, the village is just 2.5 km away from Kala Nera. It’s a great walk down to the Blue Flag beach of Kala Nera, which is one of the most well-organised tourist spots in the area. You can go there on foot, but remember it’s uphill on the return walk! Alternatively, of course, you can use a bike, a car or even a bicycle. And if you don’t have your vehicle, you can rent one at Kala Nera.
